dances
I got this information from the Zohar and from Likutei Moharan: It speaks of dancing and its importance. On several groups I've read of various African groups lamenting that many have forgotten the meaning of the dance movements. If this is of any help I would like to post what I 've read from these sources:
dancing -moving the feet up and down - has the purpose of bringing down new realities. Sort of like a woman in labor, she paces, squats, turns this way and that way to help bring down the baby. so to with dancing -except its not a physical baby.
clapping the hands -according to Rebbe Nachman of Breslov has the function of dashing evil decrees in Heaven.
I also found it interesting that the Yerushalmi Jews and the traditional Yemenite Jews use only drums and various percussion instrument only as a reminder of the Beit Hamikdash still in its destroyed state. Drums.
